Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Sheffield (S2, S3)
Pay rate: £460 -£600 per week (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

Provide steady, compassionate support to pupils who need guidance with their social, emotional, and mental wellbeing.

GSL Education are seeking a Social, Emotional and Mental Health Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA) to work with schools in the Sheffield (S2, S3) area, helping pupils feel supported, understood, and ready to engage with learning.

In this role, the SEMH Teaching Assistant will work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to assist pupils on a one-to-one and small group basis, promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation within the classroom.

Responsibilities of SEMH Teaching Assistant:

  • Support pupils with SEMH needs during lessons and unstructured times.
  • Encourage positive behaviour, resilience, and engagement in learning.
  • Assist pupils in accessing classroom activities and completing tasks.
  • Work collaboratively with staff to follow individual support plans.
  • Help maintain a safe, calm, and inclusive learning environment.

Requirement:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs.
  • Strong communication, patience, and empathy.
  • Ability to build trusting relationships and act as a positive role model.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
