About the Role:
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will provide targeted support to students who require additional emotional and behavioural guidance. You will work closely with teachers and support staff to help students access learning, manage emotions, and develop positive relationships within the school environment.
Responsibilities:
• Support students with SEMH needs on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, helping them to engage positively with learning activities.
• Assist in implementing tailored support strategies and behaviour plans to meet individual student needs.
• Foster a calm, structured, and supportive learning environment that promotes emotional well-being.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, and external professionals to provide consistent support.
• Encourage positive behaviour, resilience, and self-regulation through clear expectations and guidance.
• Monitor and record student progress, behaviour, and engagement, feeding back to teaching staff.
Qualifications:
• Previous experience working as an SEMH Teaching Assistant or in a similar support role is desirable.
• A good understanding of SEMH needs and behaviour management strategies.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A calm, patient, and resilient approach to supporting challenging behaviours.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
