Full-Time SEN Teaching Assistant – SEN School - Poole 

GSL Education is delighted to be working exclusively with an excellent, inclusive SEN school in Poole supporting children aged 5-25 with Severe Learning Difficulties. This is a fantastic opportunity for a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a close-knit team and make a real difference every day.

The school is renowned for its state-of-the-art facilities, including sensory rooms,hydrotherapy pool, and purpose-built classrooms, designed to create a stimulating and nurturing environment for every child. Classes are small, with 6-8  pupils per class, supported by one teacher and two teaching assistants, allowing for highly personalised learning and attention.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties across all areas of the curriculum
  • Assisting with personal care, including toileting, feeding, and mobility support where needed
  • Delivering structured learning activities under the guidance of the class teacher
  • Supporting communication, social development, and behaviour management
  • Encouraging independence and fostering confidence in all pupils
  • Working as part of a team of dedicated staff, sharing best practice and contributing to a positive, collaborative culture

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold at least a C/4 (or equivalent) in English and Maths at GCSE
  • Be patient, resilient, and passionate about supporting children with complex needs
  • Be comfortable assisting with personal care
  • Have experience in Nursery, Early Years, or other transferable settings (experience in educational or care roles is highly valued)
  • Be adaptable, proactive, and enjoy working in a highly supportive and collaborative environment
