Teaching Assistant

Location: York
Salary: £88 – £110 per day
Contract: Full-Time and Part-Time
Start Date: As soon as possible

GSL Education are recruiting experienced Primary Teaching Assistant to work in a specialist primary setting in York. This role is well suited to TAs with experience supporting pupils with additional needs who can offer consistency, patience and structured support throughout the school day.

The school is a specialist primary provision supporting pupils with a range of complex learning and additional needs. It provides a highly structured environment with a strong focus on emotional regulation, communication and individual development. Staff work closely as a team to ensure pupils feel safe, supported and able to access learning at their own pace. The school places a strong emphasis on safeguarding, inclusion and positive behaviour support.

Teaching Assistant Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils

  • Assist the class teacher with learning activities and classroom routines

  • Support pupils with SEN, including communication and social development

  • Help manage behaviour using positive and consistent approaches

  • Promote independence and engagement in learning

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant in a primary or SEN setting

  • Good understanding of SEN and child development

  • Calm, caring and resilient approach

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply
