Level 2 Teaching Assistant
Location: York, North Yorkshire
Start Date: As soon as possible; February 2026/March 2026
Salary: £23124 – £27258 per annum*
GSL Education is seeking a full-time Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive school in York. This is an exciting opportunity to work with children from Early Years to Year 6, of varying needs and help them achieve their full potential.

As a Level 2 Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide classroom support for pupils, including those with Speech, Language, and Communication Needs (SLCN).
- Deliver targeted support in English and Maths, using structured programmes such as phonic schemes and White Rose Maths.
- Support teachers in planning and implementing differentiated lessons.
- Encourage pupil engagement, independence, and confidence.
- Assist with assessment, progress tracking, and reporting under teacher guidance.
- Maintain a positive, calm, and safe learning environment.
- Support small-group and 1:1 interventions as required.
As the Ideal Level 2 Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Have experience supporting pupils with SLCN or other additional needs.
- Be knowledgeable of phonics programmes and structured Maths schemes, ideally White Rose Maths.
- Be patient, adaptable, and able to work with pupils of different abilities.
- Work well both independently and as part of a team.
- Have a proactive, positive, and child-centred approach.
- Hold, or is willing to obtain, an enhanced DBS.
