Job Title: SEN Humanities Teacher
Location: Medway
Salary: £120 – £250 per day (depending on experience)

Are you a passionate and resilient SEN Humanities Teacher looking to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people with additional needs?
GSL Education are currently seeking a dedicated SEN Humanities Teacher to work in supportive schools and specialist provisions across Medway, delivering engaging Humanities lessons tailored to students with Special Educational Needs.
About the Role:
As a SEN Humanities Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering adapted Humanities lessons, including subjects such as History, Geography, and Religious Education, to students with a range of SEN needs. You will work closely with support staff and SEN professionals to ensure lessons are accessible, structured, and supportive, helping students to build confidence, knowledge, and key life skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver differentiated Humanities lessons in line with the curriculum and individual learning needs
- Teach students on a one-to-one, small group, or whole-class basis, depending on provision needs
- Adapt teaching strategies to support students with SEN such as ASD, SEMH, ADHD, or learning difficulties
- Manage classroom behaviour effectively, promoting a calm, safe, and inclusive learning environment
- Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, SENCOs, and pastoral teams
- Monitor, assess, and record student progress, providing clear feedback
- Support students’ academic, social, and emotional development
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or relevant teaching qualification
- Experience teaching Humanities subjects (History, Geography, RE, or related areas)
- Experience working with students with SEN or within specialist provisions is highly desirable
- Strong behaviour management and adaptive teaching skills
- A patient, flexible, and nurturing approach to teaching
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
- An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply with GSL Education
