Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Southgate
Pay Rate: £90 – £105 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Ad hoc / Part time
Working Hours: 8.15 AM-3:45 PM

GSL Education are recruiting a caring and reliable Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to support a primary school in Southgate on a regular part time / ad hoc basis.

This opportunity is ideal for someone who understands how to provide consistent individual guidance to students with additional needs while contributing positively to the wider classroom environment.

Main Duties of the SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Offer dedicated 1:1 SEN support to ensure students can access learning comfortably.
  • Encourage participation in lessons by adapting support to suit individual learning styles.
  • Promote a safe, respectful, and structured classroom atmosphere.
  • Work alongside teachers to help students remain focused and engaged throughout the day.
  • Observe and share feedback on student progress with the teaching team.
  • Assist with learning activities and ensure resources are prepared when required.

Essential Requirement of SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Practical experience and a clear understanding of supporting pupils with SEN.
  • Recent hands-on experience within a primary school environment.
  • Confidence in providing individualised 1:1 support to meet pupils’ needs.
  • Ability to adhere to school procedures and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
  • A strong standard of spoken and written English for clear communication.
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
  • An updated CV covering the last ten years with no unexplained gaps.
