Job Title: SEMH Tutor
Location: Wakefield (WF4)
Payrate: £13.50 -£14.30 per hour (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-day / Long-term | Part-time / Full-time

Setting: Alternative Provision (AP) School

GSL Education are looking for an experienced and empathetic SEMH Tutor to work within an Alternative Provision (AP) school in Wakefield (WF4). This role is ideal for someone who can build strong relationships, deliver targeted support, and help students overcome barriers linked to social, emotional, and mental health needs.

In this role, you will deliver focused support that helps pupils manage emotions, build confidence, and make progress in a safe and supportive setting, including working within an AP school.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored academic and emotional support to pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Deliver one-to-one or small group sessions based on individual learning plans.
  • Promote positive behaviour, engagement, and emotional regulation.
  • Work closely with staff and pastoral teams to ensure consistent support.
  • Contribute to a structured and inclusive learning environment.

Requirements for the SEMH Tutor:

  • Previous experience working as an SEMH Tutor or in a similar role.
  • Strong communication skills, patience, and resilience.
  • Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practice.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
