Special Needs Teacher

GSL Education is seeking a Special Needs Teacher to join a supportive and inclusive school in Scarborough, North Yorkshire. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference to students with a range of additional needs, including autism, social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges, and learning difficulties.

The Role

As a Special Needs Teacher, you will:

  • Deliver high-quality lessons tailored to the individual needs of students with SEND.
  • Develop and implement personalised learning plans and interventions.
  • Support students’ social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Collaborate closely with teaching assistants, SENCOs, and other staff to provide consistent and effective provision.
  • Monitor progress, assess learning outcomes, and adapt strategies accordingly.c
  • Foster an inclusive, safe, and positive learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds QTS and relevant experience working with SEND students.
  • Has excellent subject knowledge and an understanding of differentiated teaching strategies.
  • Can inspire, motivate, and build positive relationships with students of all abilities.
  • Has strong classroom management skills and a patient, nurturing approach.
  • Is committed to improving outcomes for students with additional needs.
  • Works collaboratively and effectively as part of a wider team.
