Job Title: Learning Support Assistant – Secondary Focus
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £460 – £600 per week
Contract Type: Full time, long-term / Day-to-day
Start Date: Immediately

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and proactive Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school in Sheffield, supporting students across a range of subjects and learning needs.

About the Role:
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to help students access the curriculum and remain engaged in their learning. You will provide targeted academic and pastoral support, helping students overcome barriers to learning and develop positive behaviours in the classroom.

Responsibilities:
• Support students in lessons across a range of secondary subjects, either one-to-one or in small groups.
Assist learners in understanding lesson content and completing classwork.

• Promote positive behaviour and engagement in line with school policies.
Help maintain a calm, focused, and inclusive classroom environment.

• Work collaboratively with teachers and SEN staff to implement support strategies.
Contribute to tailored interventions that meet individual learning needs.

• Encourage students’ confidence, independence, and social development.
Support emotional well-being and motivation throughout the school day.

• Monitor and record student progress where required.
Provide feedback to teaching staff to support ongoing development.

Qualifications:
• Previous experience working with secondary-aged students or in a school-based role is desirable.
Experience supporting SEN or additional learning needs is an advantage.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.

• A patient, adaptable, and supportive approach.
Confidence in managing a variety of learning needs and behaviours.

• A genuine interest in supporting young people’s education and development.
