Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Sheffield (S2, S3)
Pay rate: £460 -£600 per week (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

Can you support pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs as they progress in their learning journey.

GSL Education are working with schools across Sheffield (S2, S3) to recruit a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to provide consistent and nurturing support.

In this role, the Social, Emotional, and Mental Health Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA) will work closely with pupils to support emotional regulation, engagement in learning, and positive behaviour within a structured environment.

What the Position Involves:

  • Provide targeted support to pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Assist with classroom activities and adapt resources where needed.
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation and engagement.
  • Work one-to-one or in small groups to meet individual needs.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff and pastoral teams.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Previous experience working as an SEMH Teaching Assistant or in a similar support role.
  • Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practice.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
