Teaching Assistant
Location: Specialist School in York, North Yorkshire
Contract: Full-Time, Term Time Only
Salary: £1927 – £2271* per month
Start Date: As soon as possible
GSL Education are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to work within a specialist educational setting in York, supporting pupils with a wide range of Special Educational Needs (SEN).
This setting provides a nurturing and structured environment for children and young people with needs including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH), moderate learning difficulties, and associated communication and behavioural needs.
The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils to access learning and develop both academically and emotionally. Responsibilities include:
- Providing classroom-based support to pupils, both 1:1 and in small groups.
- Supporting the delivery of personalised learning programmes and behaviour strategies.
- Assisting pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural regulation using positive approaches.
- Working closely with teachers and support staff to ensure continuity of care and learning.
- Supporting personal care and daily routines where required.
- Helping to create a calm, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
- Following individual education plans (IEPs), behaviour plans, and risk assessments.
- Upholding safeguarding, health and safety, and wellbeing at all times.
