Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistants
Location: Wakefield (WF4)
Pay rate: £460 -£600 per week (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract type -Day-to-day/ Long-term, Full-time/ Part-time

GSL Education are hiring SEMH Teaching Assistants to provide tailored emotional and behavioural support for pupils. This role is based in schools within the Wakefield area, covering the WF4 postcode.

As Social, Emotional, and Mental Health Teaching Assistants (SEMH TA), you will support pupils on a one-to-one or small-group basis, helping them manage emotions, build resilience, and engage positively with learning and daily school life.

Mian Responsibilities:

  • Provide targeted support to pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Implement behaviour and emotional regulation strategies in line with individual plans.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships to support pupil wellbeing and progress.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to ensure consistent support.

Requirements of SEMH Teaching Assistants:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs.
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach to challenging situations.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
