Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant

Salary: £460 – £600 per week
Contract Type: Full time, long-term / Day-to-day

About the Role:
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide targeted support to students who require additional emotional and behavioural guidance. You will help create a safe learning environment and support students both academically and emotionally throughout the school day.

Responsibilities:

  • Support students with SEMH needs on a one-to-one or small group basis
  • Assist in delivering tailored learning activities and interventions
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies
  • Build trusting relationships to support student engagement and progress
  • Support classroom management and daily routines
  • Monitor and record student progress and behaviour
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, and external professionals

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs is desirable
  • Understanding of behaviour management strategies and emotional support techniques
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach
  • Ability to adapt to the individual needs of students
