SEMH Teaching Assistant

Location: Selby
Salary: £88 – £110 per day
Start Date: February 2026
Contract: Full-Time

GSL Education are recruiting a resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to support secondary pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs in Selby.

About the School
The school has a strong pastoral framework and focuses on emotional wellbeing alongside academic progress. Staff are trained in behaviour management and trauma-informed practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils displaying challenging behaviours

  • Provide emotional regulation and mentoring support

  • Assist with behaviour plans and interventions

  • Build positive relationships with students

Requirements

  • Experience working with SEMH needs

  • Calm and confident behaviour management skills

  • Ability to work under pressure

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply
