Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant (Drivers only)
Location: Chesterfield
Payrate: £98-£108 Per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-day / Long-term | Part-time / Full-time

Schools in Chesterfield, GSL Education are seeking an SEMH Teaching Assistant to provide consistent academic and emotional support. This driver‑only role requires travel between sites and may include home visits.

As a Social, Emotional, and Mental Health Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA), you will support pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs, helping them stay regulated, motivated, and engaged in learning throughout the school day.

Key Duties:

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils who need structured support.
  • Support students during lessons, transitions, and unstructured times.
  • Implement behaviour and emotional support strategies set by the school.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams.
  • Promote independence, resilience, and positive coping mechanisms.

Essential Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as an SEMH TA or within a similar support-based role
  • Must be a driver with access to a vehicle.
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
  • A patient, resilient, and adaptable approach.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply.
