A welcoming and well-regarded primary school in Harlow is looking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to provide 1:1 support for a child with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in a KS1 classroom. This is a full-time, long-term position, starting as soon as possible, offering a rewarding opportunity to make a real impact during a crucial stage of learning.

About the Role

As a 1:1 Learning Support Assistant, you will support a KS1 pupil with additional needs to access the curriculum, develop confidence, and engage positively with learning. Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO, you’ll help implement tailored strategies that support both academic progress and emotional wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a KS1 pupil with SEN

  • Supporting learning and engagement within the classroom

  • Assisting with emotional regulation, routines, and transitions

  • Adapting learning activities to meet individual needs

  • Encouraging independence, confidence, and positive behaviour

  • Supporting social interaction and communication

  • Working collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider support team

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience supporting children with SEN in a primary school setting

  • A patient, caring, and adaptable approach

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Confidence supporting behaviour and individual learning needs

  • A genuine passion for supporting children’s development

  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
