SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)

Location: Newham
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Part-Time, Ad Hoc
Hours: 8:30am – 4:15pm
Pay: £90–£105 per day (depending on experience)

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join an inclusive primary school in Newham. This rewarding role is ideal for someone with strong SEN experience who is passionate about supporting pupils’ learning, development, and wellbeing.

You will work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to deliver high-quality 1:1 support, helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and thrive in a structured, supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 SEN support tailored to individual pupil needs
  • Support learning inside and outside the classroom
  • Assist with the delivery of personalised interventions
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to staff
  • Follow school policies, safeguarding procedures, and behaviour strategies

Requirements of SEN TA:

  • Proven experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
  • Recent school-based experience in a UK setting
  • Confidence delivering 1:1 SEN interventions
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection
  • Good level of spoken and written English
