Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Rotherham (S25)
Salary: £460 – £600 per week
Contract Type: Full time, long-term / Day-to-day

About the Role:
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide personalised care, guidance, and learning support to students. You will play a pivotal role in helping learners develop both academically and socially, ensuring they are able to access the curriculum and thrive in school.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement personalised learning and support plans tailored to each student’s needs.
  • Create a supportive and inclusive environment that promotes trust and engagement.
  • Assist students with managing behaviour and developing social and emotional skills.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff and multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive support.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, interventions, and activities.
  • Support students in participating fully in classroom and extracurricular activities.
  • Provide guidance and encouragement to foster independence, confidence, and motivation.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, SEMH Support Worker, or similar role is preferred.
  • Understanding of SEMH needs and evidence-based strategies to support students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt to the dynamic needs of students and the classroom environment.
  • Compassionate, patient, and committed to supporting students’ personal and academic development.
