Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant

Salary: £460 – £600 per week
Contract Type: Full time, long-term / Day-to-day

About the Role:
As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will provide targeted support to students with SEMH needs, helping them access the curriculum, develop social skills, and engage fully in school life. You will work closely with teaching staff to implement interventions, manage behaviour, and support overall student well-being.

Responsibilities:

  • Support students in achieving academic and personal development goals.
  • Implement personalised strategies and lesson plans tailored to individual needs.
  • Create a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment that encourages trust and engagement.
  • Collaborate with teachers, pastoral staff, and external professionals to provide comprehensive support.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and activities.
  • Assist with social, emotional, and behavioural interventions as required.
  • Promote independence, confidence, and motivation among students.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or similar role supporting students with SEMH is preferred.
  • Understanding of SEMH needs and evidence-based support strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt to the dynamic needs of students.
  • A compassionate and patient approach to supporting learners.
