SEN Support Workers

Location: Middlesbrough
Start Date: Immediate
Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm (Term Time Only)

GSL Education are currently recruiting several SEN Support Workers to work within a specialist SEN school in Middlesbrough. This is an excellent opportunity for care assistants or support workers looking to transition into an educational setting and use their specialist skills to support children with additional needs. The school has an ofsted rating of 'good'.

Due to the consistency required, these roles may become permanent for the right candidates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting children with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN)
  • Assisting pupils with their learning, development, and emotional wellbeing
  • Communicating effectively with verbal and non-verbal individuals
  • Providing personal care when required
  • Working closely with teachers and other support staff to ensure the best outcomes for pupils

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience supporting individuals with SEN
  • A patient, caring, and person-centred approach
  • Ability to support with personal care
  • Strong communication skills
  • A DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Experience using Makaton and/or PECS
