As a Drama Teacher, you’ll be at the heart of this journey, guiding young people to discover their voice and express themselves in new and exciting ways.
Why This Role Matters
Drama plays a vital role in education, encouraging teamwork, empathy, and resilience. You’ll be helping students to step outside their comfort zones, whether they’re performing a Shakespearean monologue, devising their own play, or experimenting with improvisation. Your lessons will not only teach performance techniques but also instill life skills that students will carry with them long after they leave the classroom.
What You’ll Be Doing as a Drama Teacher
- Delivering engaging and well-structured Drama lessons.
- Introducing students to a wide range of performance styles, from classical theatre to contemporary practice.
- Encouraging creativity through script work, improvisation, and devised performances.
- Building a supportive classroom environment where every student feels confident to participate.
- Assessing progress and providing constructive feedback to help students grow.
- Collaborating with colleagues to contribute to the wider arts curriculum and school productions.
What We’re Looking For in a Drama Teacher
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Strong subject knowledge in Drama and Performing Arts.
- A genuine passion for inspiring young people through creativity.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- The ability to adapt lessons to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one through GSL Education
What You’ll Gain
- A competitive daily rate of up to 220, depending on experience.
- The chance to work in a supportive and welcoming school environment.
- Opportunities to lead or assist with school productions and extracurricular drama clubs.
- The satisfaction of seeing students grow in confidence and ability, both on stage and in everyday life as a Drama Teacher.
Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks; including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service or completing an application for a new check.
