Salary: £23124 – £27258 FTE

The Role

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join a specialist education setting supporting children and young people with a range of additional needs. This is a rewarding, full-time role for someone who is passionate about inclusive education and supporting pupils to achieve their full potential.

You will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support, helping pupils to access learning, develop independence, and build confidence in a safe and nurturing environment.

Special Needs Teaching Assistant Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with a range of special educational needs.
  • Support learning across the curriculum by adapting tasks and resources.
  • Assist with communication, emotional regulation, and social development.
  • Support pupils during transitions, breaktimes, and unstructured periods.
  • Help maintain a calm, structured, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching, therapy, and pastoral teams.
  • Follow individual education plans (EHCPs) and support strategies.
  • Promote positive behaviour and pupil wellbeing at all times.
