Location: Rotherham (S25)
Salary: £460 – £600 per week
Contract Type: Full time, long-term / Day-to-day

About the Role:
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will support students with their learning and personal development, helping them to engage with lessons and build positive behaviours. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the wellbeing, confidence, and progress of students with SEMH needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement personalised support plans tailored to the needs of each student.
  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to promote engagement and learning.
  • Assist with behaviour management and help students develop positive strategies.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other staff to ensure comprehensive support.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, activities, and wellbeing.
  • Support students’ emotional and social development through structured interventions.
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and self-motivation in learners.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or SEMH support worker is preferred.
  • Understanding of social, emotional, and mental health needs and strategies to support them.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and adaptability to meet the dynamic needs of students.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build positive relationships with students and staff.
