Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Dinnington (S25)
Salary: £460 – £600 per week (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long Term | Full-time / Part-time
Are you a resilient and supportive SEMH Teaching Assistant looking to make a meaningful impact on students with social, emotional, and mental health needs?
GSL Education are seeking dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistants (SEMH TA) to work in supportive schools in Dinnington (S25), with immediate opportunities available on a flexible basis.
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils who require additional emotional and behavioural guidance. You will help create a calm, structured, and nurturing learning environment where students feel safe and supported.
Responsibilities:
• Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with SEMH needs.
• Assist teachers in delivering lessons in line with the curriculum.
• Support pupils in managing behaviour and emotional regulation.
• Implement individual behaviour and support plans effectively.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with students.
• Monitor progress and provide feedback to teachers and SEN staff.
• Ensure safeguarding and child protection policies are followed at all times.
Requirements:
• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs.
• Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
• A calm, patient, and consistent approach to supporting learners.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
• CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance (desirable but not essential).
• Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service or willingness to apply through GSL Education.
