Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Rotherham (S25)
Salary: £460 – £600 per week
Contract Type: Full time, long-term / Day-to-day

Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? An exciting opportunity is available at a local school in Rotherham, seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and motivated individual to join the team as an SEMH Teaching Assistant.

About the Role:
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students both academically and emotionally. You will assist in implementing strategies to manage behaviour, support learning, and help students engage with the curriculum effectively. This role gives you the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people every day.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement personalised support and learning strategies tailored to each student’s SEMH needs.
  • Create a safe, structured, and inclusive environment that fosters trust and positive relationships.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff to ensure comprehensive support.
  • Monitor and record student progress and behavioural outcomes accurately.
  • Assist with emotional regulation strategies and interventions.
  • Support students in accessing learning activities and developing social skills.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as an SEMH Teaching Assistant, Teaching Assistant, Support Worker, or similar role is preferred.
  • Understanding of SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, and evidence-based support strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Calm, patient, and adaptable approach to working with students.
  • Ability to follow structured support plans and work collaboratively with staff.
