About the Role:
As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will support students with complex social, emotional, and behavioural needs, helping them access the curriculum and develop key skills. You will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide tailored assistance, encourage positive behaviour, and promote students’ wellbeing and learning outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Implement personalised support plans tailored to the needs of individual students.
- Assist students in managing behaviour, building confidence, and developing social skills.
- Support learning in small groups or one-to-one settings, adapting activities where needed.
- Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and external professionals to ensure effective interventions.
- Maintain accurate records of progress, behaviour, and achievements.
- Create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment that encourages trust and engagement.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with students with SEMH or similar needs is preferred.
- Strong understanding of social, emotional, and behavioural strategies and support methods.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamworking skills.
- Patient, compassionate, and adaptable to individual student needs.
- Ability to follow structured plans while demonstrating flexibility in approach.
