A primary school in Harlow is seeking a specialist Learning Support Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a child with autism. This is a fantastic opportunity for a compassionate, patient, and experienced professional to make a real difference in a child’s learning and development.
The Role:

Provide one-to-one support for a pupil with autism in a primary school setting.

Help the child access the curriculum and participate in classroom activities.

Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement individualised support plans.

Support social, emotional, and behavioural development using positive strategies.

Encourage independence, confidence, and engagement in learning.

Maintain a calm, structured, and nurturing environment to meet the child’s needs.
The Ideal Candidate:
-
Experience working with children with autism or complex additional needs in a school setting.
-
Patient, empathetic, and adaptable, with excellent communication skills.
-
Able to build strong relationships with pupils, staff, and families.

Confident implementing positive behaviour strategies and individual learning plans.
-
Relevant qualifications such as CACHE Level 2/3 or SEN-specific training are desirable but not essential.
