Job Title: Teaching Assistant (TA)
Location: Barnsley (S70, S71)
Pay rate: £460 –£600 per week (Depending on experience)
Start Date: January 2026
Contract type -Day-to-day/ Long-term, Full-time/ Part-time

GSL Education are seeking a Teaching Assistant (TA) to support teachers, assist with learning activities, and help pupils access the curriculum in Barnsley schools across the S70 and S71 areas. The role centres on fostering inclusion and ensuring students feel confident and engaged in their learning.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will support teachers, assist with classroom activities, and help pupils feel included in their learning. This role provides the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on both academic progress and personal growth.
Responsibilities:
- Support pupils with classwork and learning activities.
- Assist teachers in planning and delivering lessons.
- Provide one-to-one or small-group support where needed.
- Help maintain a structured and safe classroom environment.
- Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, flexibility, and a proactive approach to supporting pupils.
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
