Location: Wakefield (WF4)
Salary: £460 – £600 per week (Depending on experience)
Start Date: January 2026
Contract Type: Day-to-Day / Long-Term, Part-Time / Full-Time
Are you a calm, resilient, and dedicated professional with a passion for supporting positive behaviour in schools? GSL Education are seeking committed Behaviour Support Staff to work in a supportive school setting in Wakefield WF4, starting January 2026.
As Behaviour Support Staff, you will play a vital role in helping pupils manage their behaviour, regulate emotions, and remain engaged in learning. This role is ideal for individuals with experience in behaviour mentoring, pastoral support, youth work, SEN, or social care who want to make a genuine difference in young people’s lives.
Key Responsibilities of Behaviour Support Staff:
- Provide targeted behaviour support to pupils on a 1:1 and small-group basis.
- Support pupils with emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies.
- Assist in managing behaviour in classrooms and around the school.
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to implement behaviour plans.
- Promote positive relationships, engagement, and self-confidence.
- Help maintain a calm, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience working as Behaviour Support Staff, Behaviour Mentor, or in a similar role.
- Strong communication, patience, and de-escalation skills.
- A proactive and empathetic approach to supporting pupils.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
- A genuine commitment to improving outcomes for young people.
- An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply through GSL Education.
