Autism SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Barking and Dagenham
Pay Rate: £100 - £110 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-Day / Long-Term, Part-Time / Full-Time

GSL Education’s London Branch is currently seeking a dedicated Autism SEN Teaching Assistant (TA) to join a supportive team at a welcoming school in Barking and Dagenham. If you are passionate about supporting students with Autism and helping them achieve their full potential, this could be the perfect opportunity for you!

About the Role:

As an Autism SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will provide tailored 1:1 support to a student with Autism, ensuring they can access the curriculum and thrive both academically and socially. You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement strategies that meet the student’s individual needs. This is a rewarding role where you can make a real difference in a young person’s educational journey.

Responsibilities of Autism SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA):

  • Provide 1:1 support to a student with Autism, adapting strategies to meet individual needs.
  • Assist in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and monitor progress.
  • Support the student in developing confidence, independence, and social skills.
  • Collaborate with teachers and the SEN team to create an inclusive learning environment.
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being.

Requirements for Autism SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA):

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with Autism or SEN is desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build trusting relationships and demonstrate patience and empathy.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to supporting learning.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in SEN support (desirable but not essential).
