Overseas-Trained Primary Teacher

Location: Kent
Salary: £90 – £180 per day (depending on experience)
Contract: Full-time / Part-time / Flexible Supply
Start Date: January 2026 & Ongoing

Are you an enthusiastic Overseas-Trained Primary Teacher currently living in the UK and ready to gain experience in British primary schools? GSL Education Kent are supporting a range of welcoming schools across Kent that are keen to work with a motivated Overseas-Trained Primary Teacher who is eager to build confidence, understand the UK curriculum, and take the next step in their teaching journey.

This Overseas-Trained Primary Teacher role is designed to support teachers who qualified outside the UK and are looking to establish themselves within the English education system. As an Overseas-Trained Primary Teacher, you will have the opportunity to work in supportive school environments, initially in supply or short-term roles, allowing you to familiarise yourself with UK classroom expectations, behaviour policies, and curriculum delivery.

Schools value the global perspective and subject knowledge that an Overseas-Trained Primary Teacher brings, and many placements offer clear progression into longer-term or permanent roles once UK experience has been gained.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging lessons across EYFS, KS1, or KS2
  • Follow pre-planned lessons or contribute to lesson delivery where appropriate
  • Support pupil learning, behaviour, and engagement throughout the school day
  • Adapt teaching approaches to meet the needs of diverse learners
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents
  • Gain hands-on experience of the UK primary curriculum and school systems
  • Uphold safeguarding and professional standards expected of an Overseas-Trained Primary Teacher

Requirements:

  • A recognised overseas teaching qualification
  • Right to work in the UK (sponsorship is not available)
  • A strong desire to work as a Primary Teacher in UK schools
  • Good classroom presence and a positive, adaptable approach
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to start in flexible or supply-based roles
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply
