College Support Specialist – Post 16 SEN
Location: Chelmsford
Pay Rate: £85 – £140 per day
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Full-time / Part-time (Term Time)
We are currently seeking a dedicated College Support Specialist to work within a Post-16 college setting in Chelmsford, supporting learners with SEN and complex needs.
This is a highly rewarding role for individuals passionate about helping young people transition into adulthood, build independence, and access education in a safe and inclusive environment.
The Role:
As a College Support Specialist, you will:

Provide 1:1 and small-group support to Post-16 learners with SEN, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, and complex needs

Support students within classroom settings, vocational areas, and life-skills sessions

Assist learners to work towards EHCP outcomes and personal development goals

Support emotional regulation, communication, and positive behaviour

Assist with personal care, mobility, and medical needs where required

Work closely with tutors, therapists, and SEN teams to ensure consistent support
What We’re Looking For:

Experience working with SEN and/or complex needs (education, care, or support background)

A calm, patient, and adaptable approach

Strong communication and teamwork skills

Commitment to safeguarding and promoting independence

Post-16 or college experience is desirable but not essential
