Job Title: SEN (Special Educational Needs) Teaching Assistant
Location: Sheffield (S2, S3)
Pay rate: £460 -£600 per week (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediately/January 2026
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are excited to appoint a SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils in Sheffield’s S2 and S3 areas, providing tailored assistance to help them access learning effectively.

As a SEN (Special Educational Needs) Teaching Assistant, you will provide targeted support to learners with special educational needs, helping them build confidence, independence, and engagement in a supportive environment.

Prime Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils with special educational needs on a one-to-one basis or in small groups.
  • Assist learners in understanding tasks and staying focused during activities.
  • Adapt support strategies to suit individual learning styles and needs.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and social interaction.
  • Work closely with staff to implement support plans and agreed strategies.
  • Monitor progress and share observations with relevant colleagues.
  • Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

Requirements of SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with additional needs.
  • A calm, empathetic, and flexible approach to support.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to follow guidance and work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
  • A clear understanding of safeguarding and professional responsibilities.
