Autism Support Worker

Location: Scarborough area
Salary: £88 – £110 per day
Contract: Full-Time

GSL Education are looking for a compassionate Autism Support Worker to join a specialist provision near Scarborough. This is a brilliant opportunity to use your skills to help pupils with autism thrive within a structured and supportive educational environment.

The setting supports learners with autism alongside other additional needs, ensuring students receive personalised assistance tailored to their strengths and challenges. Staff use calm, adaptable approaches and structured routines to help pupils develop communication, self-regulation and engagement with learning.

Autism Support Worker Responsibilities

• Provide targeted support for pupils with autism in class and during activities.
• Use visual aids, structured approaches and positive behaviour strategies.
• Help pupils access learning and social skills opportunities.
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SEN leads and therapists.

Requirements

• Experience working with autistic pupils or equivalent specialist training.
• Understanding of sensory needs and autism-friendly approaches.
• Strong interpersonal skills and patience.
• Ability to provide consistent, positive support.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply.
