Disability Support Worker
Location: Burley
Salary: £13.68 - £16.12 Per Hour (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: January 2026
Contract Type: Full-time / Part-time
Are you a compassionate, patient, and dedicated individual seeking to make a meaningful impact on the lives of young people with disabilities? GSL Education are seeking a Disability Support Worker to join schools in Burley.
As a Disability Support Worker, you will work closely with children and young people who require additional support due to physical, sensory, or developmental disabilities. You will assist them in accessing the curriculum, promoting independence, and ensuring they have equal opportunities to succeed in their educational journey.
Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with disabilities.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and SENCOs to deliver individual education plans (IEPs).
- Assist with learning activities, personal care, mobility, and communication needs.
- Monitor progress and provide feedback to the teaching team and parents.
- Encourage students to develop confidence, independence, and social skills.
Requirements:
- Experience supporting children or young people with disabilities, either in a school or care setting.
- Relevant qualifications such as Level 2/3 in Health & Social Care, Teaching Assistance, or Support Work are desirable.
- Understanding of physical disabilities, sensory impairments, or complex learning needs.
- Ability to handle personal care tasks with dignity and professionalism.
- Excellent communication, patience, and empathy skills.
