Job description
GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and caring 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a child in Key Stage 1 at a primary school in Harlow. This is a full-time position starting in January, offering stability, ongoing support from the school, and the chance to make a meaningful impact every day.
About the Role
In this role, you will be supporting a KS1 child with Special Educational Needs on a one-to-one basis, helping them access learning, build confidence, and thrive in the classroom. The school is warm, inclusive and extremely supportive, making it a fantastic environment for an enthusiastic and patient TA.
Key Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 support to a child with SEN (including autism), both inside and outside the classroom.

Help the pupil engage with learning activities and develop key skills.

Implement strategies set by the SENCO and class teacher to support progress and wellbeing.

Assist with emotional regulation and encourage positive behaviour.

Adapt tasks and resources to suit individual needs.

Build a trusting, supportive relationship with the pupil.

Work closely with the SENCO, class teacher and external professionals where needed.
What We’re Looking For

Experience supporting children with SEN, ideally in a school setting.

A warm, patient, and nurturing approach.

Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.

Reliability, consistency, and a genuine passion for helping children succeed.

Understanding of autism and strategies for supporting emotional and social development.

A DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
