GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and caring 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a child in Key Stage 1 at a primary school in Harlow. This is a full-time position starting in January, offering stability, ongoing support from the school, and the chance to make a meaningful impact every day.

About the Role

In this role, you will be supporting a KS1 child with Special Educational Needs on a one-to-one basis, helping them access learning, build confidence, and thrive in the classroom. The school is warm, inclusive and extremely supportive, making it a fantastic environment for an enthusiastic and patient TA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 support to a child with SEN (including autism), both inside and outside the classroom.

  • Help the pupil engage with learning activities and develop key skills.

  • Implement strategies set by the SENCO and class teacher to support progress and wellbeing.

  • Assist with emotional regulation and encourage positive behaviour.

  • Adapt tasks and resources to suit individual needs.

  • Build a trusting, supportive relationship with the pupil.

  • Work closely with the SENCO, class teacher and external professionals where needed.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience supporting children with SEN, ideally in a school setting.

  • A warm, patient, and nurturing approach.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.

  • Reliability, consistency, and a genuine passion for helping children succeed.

  • Understanding of autism and strategies for supporting emotional and social development.

  • A DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
