Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (TA)
Location: Dorchester
Salary: £13.68 – £16.12 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Full-Time / Part-Time

Are you a compassionate, patient, and resilient individual passionate about supporting children with special educational needs? GSL Education are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive school community in Dorchester with an immediate start.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant (TA), you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, including ASD, ADHD, and learning difficulties. You will work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and support teams to ensure every learner feels safe, valued, and supported to reach their full potential. This role is ideal for individuals with experience in SEN, care, or support work who are eager to make a positive impact.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with special educational needs.
  • Assist the class teacher with differentiated lesson delivery.
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour, and engagement.
  • Help to create a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Liaise with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to support pupil progress.
  • Promote independence, confidence, and positive behaviour.
  • Follow care plans, EHCPs, and safeguarding procedures at all times.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with pupils with special educational needs is desirable.
  • Patient, empathetic, and committed to supporting children with additional needs.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A positive, flexible, and proactive approach to support.
