Behaviour Teaching Assistant

Location: Cayton, North Yorkshire
Salary: £88 – £110 per day
Start Date: ASAP / January 2026

GSL Education are recruiting a resilient Behaviour Teaching Assistant to support pupils with behavioural needs in a specialist provision in Cayton. This role is ideal for someone with a background in youth work, mentoring or SEMH support.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with behaviour regulation strategies

  • Build trusting, positive relationships with young people

  • Assist teachers in delivering personalised behaviour plans

  • Encourage engagement, resilience and problem-solving

  • Promote safe and respectful behaviour around school

Requirements

  • Experience in SEMH, youth work or behaviour support

  • Ability to remain calm and consistent

  • Strong communication and de-escalation skills

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
