Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant

Location: Filey, North Yorkshire
Salary: £88 – £110 per day
Start Date: ASAP / January 2026

GSL Education are seeking an enthusiastic Psychology Graduate for a specialist SEN setting in Filey. This role is excellent preparation for careers in clinical psychology, SEN teaching or therapeutic support.

About the School

• A progressive SEND provision that integrates therapeutic practice into everyday learning.
• Works with pupils with autism, SEMH challenges and communication needs.
• Provides structured interventions, mentoring and reflective practice training.
• Focuses on emotional wellbeing, confidence building and personalised progression.

Responsibilities

• Support learners with emotional and behavioural needs

• Implement strategies such as de-escalation, task-chunking and sensory regulation

• Assist teachers with assessment, planning and intervention

• Encourage pupils to build self-esteem and independence

• Communicate effectively with staff and parents

Requirements

• Psychology degree (or closely related field)

• Interest in SEN, behaviour or developmental needs

• Empathy, resilience and strong communication

• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
