Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Dinnington (S25)
Pay rate: £95 to £120 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate Start/Jan 2026
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are recruiting a compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to support a specialist school in Dinnington (S25). This role is ideal for someone who can build trust, promote emotional stability, and provide consistent support to pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
As an SEMH TA, you will work closely with the class teacher to support learning, manage behaviour, and create a calm, structured environment where students feel safe and understood.
Main Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support tailored to pupils with SEMH needs.
- Assist in delivering adapted learning activities that encourage engagement and confidence.
- Help students develop emotional regulation, resilience, and positive behaviour.
- Support de-escalation and contribute to a stable classroom atmosphere.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, mentors, and external agencies when required.
- Keep clear records and share observations to support personalised plans.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs is desirable.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
- A patient, consistent approach and the ability to build trust with vulnerable learners.
- Willingness to adapt strategies to meet diverse emotional and academic needs.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
- A strong understanding of safeguarding and pupil welfare.
