Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA)
Location: Sheffield (S2 & S3)
Pay Rate: £95 – £110 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate Start / January 2026
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long-term | Full-time / Part-time
Are you a resilient, patient, and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant looking to support pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs in the S2 and S3 areas of Sheffield?
GSL Education are seeking dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistants to work in specialist and mainstream schools across Sheffield (S2 & S3). This rewarding role focuses on helping pupils regulate emotions, engage in learning, and develop positive behaviour.
As an SEMH TA, you will:
- Provide targeted support to pupils with SEMH needs on a 1:1 or small-group basis.
- Assist with behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies.
- Support pupils’ engagement and participation in learning activities.
- Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams.
- Help create a calm, safe, and structured learning environment.
- Maintain accurate records and uphold safeguarding procedures.
Requirements for the role:
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs is highly desirable.
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach.
- Strong communication and de-escalation skills.
- A genuine commitment to supporting vulnerable pupils.
- An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
- A full CV covering the last 10 years, with explanations for any gaps.
