SEN Teaching Assistant 

Location: Scarborough
Salary: £88 – £110 per day
Start Date: ASAP / January 2026
Contract: Full-time / Long-term and short-term placements available

GSL Education are seeking a compassionate and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to support learners with complex needs in a specialist provision in Scarborough. This role is ideal for practitioners who enjoy delivering personalised support and working closely with multidisciplinary teams.

• The setting is a specialist provision focused on meeting the social, emotional and learning needs of pupils with SEND.
• Staff deliver highly personalised programmes in small groups and 1:1, emphasising routine, therapeutic approaches and clear structure.
• There is a strong culture of teamwork, CPD and staff wellbeing, with colleagues working alongside therapists and external specialists to secure positive outcomes.

Role overview

  • Provide targeted 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEND (including ASC, ADHD and SEMH).

  • Help deliver differentiated activities and adapt resources to meet individual access needs.

  • Support behaviour strategies, sensory regulation and communication approaches.

  • Contribute to pupil records, progress tracking and multi-agency planning.

Requirements

  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND in schools or specialist settings.

  • Knowledge of behaviour support strategies and personalised learning approaches.

  • Calm, patient and resilient with excellent communication skills.

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply.
