Job Title: SEMH Tutor
Location: Hull
Pay Rate: £26 – £33 per hour (depending on experience)

Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long-term | Full-time / Part-time

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated SEMH Tutor to provide tailored academic and emotional support to pupils in Hull. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to work closely with learners who require additional support to re-engage with education, build confidence, and achieve their full potential.

As an SEMH Tutor, you will:

  • Deliver personalised one-to-one and small group tuition to pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Design and adapt learning plans to meet individual academic and emotional requirements.
  • Create a safe, structured, and encouraging learning environment that promotes engagement and wellbeing.
  • Work collaboratively with schools, families, and support professionals to implement effective learning strategies.
  • Support pupils in developing resilience, self-regulation, and positive learning behaviours.
  • Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to schools and GSL consultants.

Requirements for the SEMH Tutor role:

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, behavioural, or additional learning needs.
  • Teaching, tutoring, youth work, or mentoring experience is highly desirable.
  • A patient, adaptable, and nurturing approach to education.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with education professionals.
  • An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
  • A full CV covering the last 10 years, with explanations for any employment gaps.
