Exciting Opportunity: Full-Time Welfare Support Assistant – Gosport, Hampshire

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Welfare Support Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school in Gosport. This full-time, term-time only role offers a fantastic opportunity to provide vital pastoral and emotional support to students, helping them thrive both inside and outside the classroom. You’ll be part of a committed team focused on supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
Key Responsibilities of Welfare Support Assistant:
- Provide emotional and pastoral support to students throughout the school day.
- Respond to welfare concerns promptly and effectively.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with students to encourage engagement and wellbeing.
- Work collaboratively with teaching and pastoral teams to create a supportive environment.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience working with young people in a welfare, pastoral, or support role.
- Transferable skills from youth work, social work, or similar backgrounds.
- A genuine passion for supporting students’ emotional and mental wellbeing.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
