Job description
SEN Teacher
Location: Maidstone
Contract: Full-time or Part-time
Salary: £120 – £250 per day (depending on experience)
Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)? We are currently recruiting a committed and nurturing SEN Teacher to join a vibrant and supportive specialist school in Maidstone.
As an SEN Teacher, you will play a vital role in helping pupils achieve their potential – academically, socially, and emotionally. You’ll lead learning for students with a range of complex needs, including autism spectrum conditions, social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), and moderate learning difficulties. You will deliver personalised lessons, oversee progress, and work closely with support staff and the wider SEN team.
This is a wonderful opportunity to work in a highly collaborative environment where every child is celebrated for who they are. The school prioritises independence, communication, and emotional well-being, creating a nurturing, safe, and inclusive space where children can thrive. The curriculum is designed to be flexible, adaptive, and holistic – built around each learner’s needs.
Key responsibilities of the SEN Teacher include:
• Delivering high-quality, differentiated lessons tailored to individual needs
• Planning and assessing in line with EHCP outcomes and personalised learning goals
• Creating a calm, structured, and inclusive learning environment
• Leading support staff and collaborating with therapists
• Encouraging independence, communication, and confidence in all learners
The ideal SEN Teacher will have:
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential
• Experience teaching young people with SEND
• A calm, patient, and resilient teaching approach
• Strong communication, teamwork, and organisational skills
• An Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
• Drivers preferred due to location
This SEN Teacher role is a fantastic opportunity to make genuine, long-lasting impact in a school that believes every pupil deserves to be valued, understood, and supported to succeed.
Please be advised that this role requires a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection, and all applicants must satisfy background safer recruitment checks.
