Primary Tutor
Location: Hull
Start Date: January 2026 or sooner
Salary: £26 – £33 per hour

GSL Education are looking for passionate and skilled Primary Trained Tutors to support children and young people across Hull through targeted, curriculum-focused tuition. This is an excellent opportunity for primary specialists who want to make a meaningful impact outside of the traditional classroom setting.

About the Role:
As a Primary Trained Tutor, you will:

  • Deliver high-quality 1:1 and small group tuition in a variety of locations across Hull.
  • Focus on key developmental areas including phonics, early reading, numeracy, literacy, speech and language, and SEMH support.
  • Adapt lessons to meet the individual learning needs of each pupil, ensuring progress at their own pace.
  • Support pupils who may be:
    • Working below age expectations
    • Recovering lost learning
    • Out of school
    • Needing confidence-building and emotional support
    • Use creative, engaging teaching approaches that nurture curiosity and resilience.
    • Liaise regularly with GSL Education, parents, and schools to monitor progress and adjust learning plans.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Fully qualified primary teacher (QTS) OR experienced primary specialist OR HLTA with strong curriculum knowledge.
  • Confident in teaching phonics (including Letters & Sounds, Read Write Inc., Jolly Phonics, or similar schemes).
  • Experience supporting speech and language development is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed practice and SEMH strategies.
  • Passionate, patient and committed to helping every child achieve their potential.
  • Must hold (or be willing to obtain) an enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
