Job Title: Special Needs Care Worker
Location: Wareham
Salary: £13.68 – £16.12 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Full-time / Part-time

Are you a compassionate, patient, and dedicated individual with a passion for supporting young people with additional needs? GSL Education are seeking a Special Needs Care Worker to join a warm and supportive school setting in Wareham.

As a Special Needs Care Worker, you will play a key role in helping pupils with special needs feel safe, included, and ready to learn. This role is ideal for someone with experience in personal care, health care, SEN support, or similar backgrounds who is motivated to make a positive difference in the daily lives of children with special educational needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide personalised care and support to pupils with a range of special educational needs.
  • Assist with mobility, feeding, hygiene routines, and other personal care tasks as required.
  • Support pupils in the classroom to encourage participation, independence, and confidence.
  • Monitor and report changes in pupil wellbeing to relevant staff.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support teams to maintain a nurturing environment.
  • Build trusted and positive relationships with pupils to promote emotional and physical wellbeing.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in SEN support, healthcare, personal care, or working with children/young people.
  • A calm, empathetic, and proactive approach when supporting vulnerable pupils.
  • Ability to follow care plans, medical instructions, and safeguarding procedures.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Relevant care qualifications (e.g., Care Certificate, NVQ Level 2/3, CACHE) are beneficial but not essential.
