Job Title: SEMH Teacher
Location: Sheffield – S5
Salary: Up to £220 a day
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Full time / Long-term
Are you an experienced SEMH Teacher or a confident classroom practitioner ready for a new challenge? A specialist school in Sheffield (S5) is looking for someone who can bring structure, calm and consistency to learners with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.

This is a well-established specialist provision supporting students who need a more tailored approach to learning. The school focuses on helping pupils re-engage with education through strong relationships, clear routines and meaningful learning experiences. The staff team are supportive, realistic and understand that no two days are ever the same.
About the Role:
As an SEMH Teacher, you’ll be working with pupils who may present challenging behaviour linked to underlying emotional or social needs. Your role will be to create a safe, structured learning environment where pupils feel supported to learn, develop confidence and make progress – both academically and emotionally.
Responsibilities:

Deliver engaging and structured lessons tailored to SEMH needs.

Support pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour strategies.

Build positive, consistent relationships that help students re-engage with learning.

Work closely with support staff, SEN teams and external professionals.

Track progress and adapt teaching to suit individual needs.

Maintain a calm, safe and predictable classroom environment.
Qualifications & Experience:

Experience working with SEMH or challenging behaviour is highly desirable.

QTS/QTLS is preferred but not essential for the right candidate.

Strong behaviour management and resilience are a must.

A calm, consistent and patient approach to teaching and support.
