Pay Rate: £13.68– £16.12 per hour (depending on experience)

GSL Education are looking for a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive school in Burley. This role offers a valuable chance to positively influence the learning and personal growth of pupils who need extra support.

The SEN TA supports pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) by providing one-to-one or small group assistance tailored to individual learning requirements.


As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to pupils with a range of SEN, including autism, ADHD, and speech or learning difficulties.
  • Assist teachers in planning and delivering lessons tailored to individual learning needs.
  • Encourage pupils to engage positively in their education and develop essential social and communication skills.
  • Support pupils in managing behaviour and emotions using patience and positive reinforcement.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to ensure consistent and effective provision.

Requirements for SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEN or additional learning needs.
  • A compassionate, adaptable, and proactive approach to working with pupils.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Confidence supporting children with additional needs such as autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, or social, emotional, and behavioural challenges
  • Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with students and staff
  • ·        A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection

To work with GSL Education as an SEN Teaching Assistant, you should:

  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years.
  • Have a DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education.
